On 4 August 2026, Graham, Manager of Elite Garages Pulborough, reached a milestone that very few people achieve: 40 years with Elite Garages.
Five years ago, we celebrated Graham’s 35th anniversary with Elite Garages. Somehow, another five years have passed, although anyone who knows Graham will probably agree that very little has changed when it comes to the qualities that have made him such an important part of Elite.
He’s still the familiar face behind the desk at Pulborough. Still quick with a smile or a bit of humour. Still the person customers ask for by name. And still just as committed to looking after people properly as he was decades ago.
Forty years deserves a proper celebration.
Four Decades and Three Generations of Elite Garages
Elite Garages has changed considerably since Graham joined the business in 1986.
Cars have changed. Workshop technology has changed. Paper diaries and handwritten records have made way for digital systems, diagnostics and increasingly sophisticated vehicles.
Elite itself has grown substantially too.
Through all of that change, Graham has worked alongside three generations of the Whittemore family and has become part of the fabric of the business.

Graham the Treaddybear, Elite Garages’ tyre-loving mascot, was named after our longest-serving member of staff. When it came to choosing the name, Graham’s loyalty, personality and decades of service made him the obvious inspiration.
To mark his 40th anniversary, Graham was presented with his very own Graham the Treaddybear. Perhaps not the traditional gift for 40 years of service, but considerably more Elite.
